The Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and Microfinance (RICEM), in collaboration with the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA), has today successfully concluded the five-day 2026 Post-Licensing Training Program for DSACCO Leaders and Staff, held at RICEM premises in Kabusunzu, Kigali.

The training, which commenced on Monday, 19 January 2026, was implemented under the DSACCO Capacity Development Program approved by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), in partnership with the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), RCA, RICEM, and DSIK. The program aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of DSACCOs nationwide to foster sound financial management, strong governance, and sustainable growth.

Participants included DSACCO board members, managers, and credit committee staff drawn from various districts across the country, namely Musanze, Gatsibo, Nyagatare, Nyamagabe, Ngoma, Rwamagana, Kirehe, Rulindo, and Kayonza. Their active engagement throughout the sessions demonstrated a shared commitment to improving cooperative financial services across Rwanda.

Over the five days, participants enhanced their competencies in loan management and portfolio analysis through intensive practical exercises, case studies, and expert-led discussions. The sessions focused on improving credit decision-making processes, strengthening portfolio quality, managing risks effectively, and boosting overall institutional performance.

The training also provided a valuable platform for experience sharing and peer learning among cooperative leaders, enabling participants to exchange best practices and address common operational challenges facing DSACCOs in their respective communities.

RICEM reaffirmed its continued dedication to supporting DSACCOs in strengthening governance structures, enhancing financial sustainability, and reinforcing internal control and risk management systems. By successfully hosting this program, RICEM continues to consolidate its role as a national center of excellence in cooperative and microfinance capacity development in Rwanda.
